Holding Pattern

Greetings from Colorado!

Well, I guess we were serious about that Denver thing....
We're in the multi-pronged process of moving right now: Mason and I are here in Colorado, having driven out almost two weeks ago to find a house for our little family. Dan flew two Fridays ago and met us halfway in Salt Lake City, finishing the drive into our new home state with us. We put him on a plane back last Monday, each of us with TONS of work ahead.... unfortunately, I've managed to take care of a good deal of what we needed to do here, and rather than subjecting Mason to a flight back, or two more 1400 mile trips back-to-back, he and I are here waiting Dan out.

Dan is in Sacramento, finishing up the dubious task of packing and moving our entire home by himself.
What can I say? Despite multiple offers to fly or drive back, Dan's refused to let us come.
(sidenote: anyone who's ever wondered which of us is the more stubborn half of this pairing, now you know!)

Of course, the fact the Jetta's in the shop in Boulder having some minor body work done hasn't helped.
I don't want to talk about it, we did the best we could, but it didn't turn out too well for the deer......
:0(

Luckily, since being in town, we've had the hospitality of my old high school friend Jody, his lovely and beautiful wife Natalie, and their three babes, all under the age of 4, up in the mountains (altitude = 9000+ feet!) just outside of Estes Park, Colorado, and Rocky Mountain National Park. If you've ever wondered how many kids Dan and I wanted, my answer now would be NOT FOUR!!
And certainly not three boys, spaced at ages 4, 2, and 1!!
;0)
Despite some of the trials and tribulations our little tribe's offspring have run into, for the most part, it's been a grand old time. Sort of like one big crazy fun-loving family most of the time. And I can't begin to explain how great it's been catching up with old friends and reconnect with like-minded individuals. Colorado already feels alot more like home than California ever did-- in a wonderful and welcoming sense.

Dan's start date is this upcoming Wednesday, September 3rd.
He's still sitting on our old driveway in Elk Grove, up to his ears in boxes, the emergency brake firmly set on our U-haul. It's Saturday, with the extended Labor Day weekend tick-tocking away minute by minute.....

Wednesday, September 3rd?
Eh, maybe he'll make it out in time,

but until then, I'll be taking bets if anyone has a few extra $$ they're willing to put on it!

Big wheels keep on turnin'

No, not Mason's wheels this time, either!
(though we really should put up footage of the little man tearin' it up on his beloved Mini Moto 4-wheeler: thanks again for the awesome 1st birthday present, Do-Dad and GiGi)

It's with much excitement and anticipation we announce.....
WE'RE MOVING TO DENVER!

Many of you have heard us discussing options, moves, Dan's looming contract expiration date (and the deficit California budget situation feeding all of this), to mention nothing of the fact Cortney never really transcended her southern belle roots enough to embrace the (elusive) Californian within! We'd been looking for our next "right" move for some time, but an opportunity finally came along that was too good to pass up: Dan accepted his new position Friday evening.

Mason and Cortney will probably head to town in 1-2 weeks to scout housing, so if you're in the area, please drop us a line. We'd love to see you, and can't wait to catch up with old friends nearby.

Dan's tentative start date is the first or second week of September, so looks like I need to log off here and get busy a-packin'.

We've got alot of work to cram into three weeks' time!
